This episode I talk with Lou Morgan an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Lou has worked in the ‘Pain Clinic” for the NHS where she helps people who have chronic pain. Lou is also a certified Yoga teacher and we met during our Yoga training.
The recent guidance regarding the management of ongoing pain is shifting away from the prescription of opioid medication. This can be a difficult conversation to have with people who have had years of reliance on ‘heavy duty’ medication. In it’s place people are now encouraged to adopt lifestyle management strategies to manage symptoms and improve the quality of life.
There is a lot of evidence to support movement as a moderator of the pain centres in the brain. Movement also positively impacts on our bio chemistry.
