Perimenopause Management

by | Oct 22, 2020 | Moving Through Menopause Podcast

This episode I chat with Dr Joshi a Certified Obstetrician and gynaecologist, and Fellow in Maternal medicine. Dr Joshi is keen to share her experience and expertise and I am all ears! We chat about peri menopause management using lifestyle measures and discuss some of the medical management available. But how do you know if you are approaching the menopause?

Signs and symptoms of menopause.

Common symptoms include:

  • hot flushes
  • night sweats
  • vaginal dryness and discomfort during sex
  • difficulty sleeping
  • low mood or anxiety
  • reduced sex drive (libido)
  • problems with memory and concentration

Menopausal symptoms can begin months or even years before your periods stop and last around 4 years after your last period, although some women experience them for much longer. Regardless of this women will live the rest of their lives without oestrogen and this can increase the risk of heart disease, Stroke, dementia and osteoporosis. Enjoy this conversation to find out more about what you can do to manage your menopause. Some science and some stories delivered with a dose of common sense as always.
