In this episode me and members of the Menopause Collective discuss the physical and emotional ramifications of an early Menopause. Premature menopause occurs for a variety of reasons including premature-ovarian insufficiency (the medical term for running out of eggs). It could be due to drug treatments and/or surgical intervention. Whatever the reason it\s a cause for concern.
An early Menopause can be life changing, if your body is letting you down and the plans you had for yourself are no longer possible. A profound adjustment is necessitated and the cycle of grief and loss; moving from denial to acceptance is an exceedingly difficult journey to travel.
Even when your family is complete an early menopause has long- term health ramifications; with an increased risk of osteoporosis to mention only one. So what help is available to women and Is the overburdened medical system equipped to deal with women equitably and effectively?
